About Us

At Yamaha, we inspire passion through the joy of music and sound. Being Australia’s leading importer and distributor of musical instruments is just the beginning. We also shape the music performed in concert halls and recording studios, enrich homes with theatre-quality sound and cultivate creativity through music education.

Our people are at the heart of our success. We believe in music’s power to bring people together. If you’re excited by the idea of sharing our passion for music, then we might be the right company for you!

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised Technical Support Specialist (TSS) to be an instrumental part of growing our B2B sales. The TSS will assist our Audio Product Marketing team, dealers and end-users through the provision of high-quality support and resources across our Professional Solutions products. This includes our Professional Audio and Unified Communications suite of products.

Reporting to the Product Manager & Technical Specialist - Commercial Audio, this role will also be responsible for researching and developing project proposals for tenders, as well as creating design and system specifications.

Key duties and responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide technical support via phone and email for Yamaha’s extensive range of Professional Solutions products to dealers and end users
  • Utilise available pricing information to determine system pricing and configuration
  • Collate a database of tenders suitable to Yamaha Music Australia
  • Collaborate with our commercial sales and audio marketing teams, to submit proposals for suitable tenders. This may be in conjunction with dealers or where suitable, via direct supply
  • Research market technologies, exploring anything new and relevant to Yamaha
  • In conjunction with relevant Product Managers, assist with the preparation of training material and technical guides for delivery to relevant market partners
  • Complete available Dante certification up to level 3
  • Assist in the planning of trade shows, events and training for the Audio team as necessary

Your skills and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical support role or associated role dealing with products adopting similar technology to Yamaha
  • Minimum 3 years' industry experience in professional or commercial audio
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
  • Knowledge of marketing concepts, strategies and tools
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the ability to build and manage relationships and work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • An excellent understanding of the Microsoft Suite, and the ability to learn and adopt new software tools

Other requirements:

  • Some interstate travel may be required
  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a Working With Children check as this may be required for some projects

We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job. While the above lists the preferred skillset, we understand that some candidates might not meet every single requirement and we still encourage you to apply. We're eager to meet candidates with either industry or professional/commercial audio product experience, who are excited about audio tech and growing our B2B market.

At Yamaha Music Australia, we are proud of cultivating a culture of safety and respect for all employees, one that includes and represents the diversity of communities that we operate in.

Great things about working here:

  • Generous staff discounts on products
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Study Assistance
  • Birthday Leave
  • Flexibility policy

How to apply:

This role is open to start in July/August 2025 and we encourage early applications. It is a full-time position working from our head office in South Melbourne. We have a hybrid work model in place, working Mondays and Fridays from home, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from the office.

To be considered for this position, tell us why your motivation, skills and experience make you the best candidate for the role. To apply, please submit a cover letter and résumé via the Seek portal.  Applications close Sunday 29 June, 2025, however we will be shortlisting prior and encourage early applications.
