About CMS
Our mission is to be our customers' trusted, creative partner. Established in 1992, we've grown to provide a fully integrated range of event and broadcast production services, always striving to be service-driven and committed to innovative solutions for our clients. We work with a variety of national clients across finance, retail, sport & entertainment - we like to keep things fresh and enjoy being able to offer creative new ideas and realistic solutions.
The Role
As a Technical Director at CMS, you'll be responsible for defining, developing, and refining technical requirements and briefs for events and projects. You'll work directly with external stakeholders like clients, venues and other providers, as well as internal stakeholders like our production team, warehouse, logistics, finance, and account managers. You'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from touring road shows and conferences to gala dinners and live sports events.
In this role, you'll be the go-to person for project management, technical planning, scheduling and budgeting from conception to completion. With support from the team, you'll define required equipment and resources for audio, vision, lighting, staging and rigging, creative theming solutions and then develop floor plans and technical drawings. You'll also collaborate with our warehouse and logistics teams to ensure the smooth rollout of equipment from our national branch locations.
You'll lead and motivate on-location crew to install and execute technical audio-visual equipment in a safe, efficient, professional manner and in compliance with safety standards - then see the show come to life!
To be considered for this role, you'll need at least 4+ years of proven experience in a similar role, as well as hands-on experience with the latest audio, vision, and lighting equipment. You'll be a great communicator in both verbal and written forms, a multi-tasker, and a team player who's always willing to share knowledge and ideas. You'll be proactive, able to manage your time and think on your feet. You'll also have strong attention to detail, be dependable, punctual and take pride in your solutions, work and appearance.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a fun, friendly and passionate team on a wide variety of events. You'll need to be available to work outside of business hours for Melbourne events and occasionally interstate, but we have processes in place to ensure a real work-life balance in the events industry.
